Paul joined JS in 1967 as an A level Retail trainee, he spent 6 months in a counter service branch as part of his training !!
After becoming an Assistant Branch Manager, he moved to Stamford House in 1970 to work in a pig procurement department in conjunction with the Blackfriars Factory and Haverhill Meat
Products.
Becoming the Delicatessen buyer in 1973 - when JS had 6 Delicatessen counters, Paul then undertook several other buying roles in Pork Products during the 1970's.
He subsequently moved to Biscuit buying in 1982 to get some non perishable experience, before transferring to Savacentre Head Office at Wokingham as Perishable Trading Manager in 1983.
Following 9 years at Savacentre HO in both perishable and non perishable trading roles, Paul moved back to JS as a Deputy in Produce Buying for two years.
He then worked in logistics, setting up Primary Distribution for Produce and Chill suppliers and taking over responsibility for agreeing with the same suppliers their move to using JS crates.
Paul retired in 2005, after 38 years at JS and joined the London Office Veterans Committee in2015/16 at its inception as events co-ordinator.
